India is cultural as well as religious country. No ban can be put on culture and religion but to celebrate religious festivals at the cost of environment should be prohibited. Idols of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Durga should be made of soil and use of POP should be strictly avoided. The National Green Tribunal, Central Zone, Bhopal, ordered to prohibit the use of POP in idol-making but no compliance is made by administrative authorities in strict manner and hence, no reaction on idol-makers. They are continuously engaged in making POP idols.

Plaster of Paris (P.O.P.) is harmful to environment in a way that it does not get easily dissolve and thus causes water pollution. It harms water animals and plants. Idols made of soil get easily dissolve and does not harms the environment as is caused by POP idols. Latter can easily be submerged at home in water buckets and can be reused.

S.D.M. Bhopal has given strict directions to idol makers to stop using POP otherwise POP idols would be seized by police authorities.

Thus, use of eco-friendly idols should be encouraged. CONSERVE, PROTECT AND PRESERVE the environment.
