Nation paid tribute to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar
Nation paid rich tribute to Dr. B.R Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, on his 125th birth anniversary. H’ble President Shri Pranab Mukherjee paid tributes at his statue in Parliament house. Vice President Mohd Hamid Ansari, Social justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot and other Union Ministers and eminent political leaders marked their presence on the occasion.
PM Narendra Modi along with other dignitaries, also paid floral tributes to Dr B.R Ambedkar at his birthplace in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, becoming the first ever Prime Minister to visit Mhow. Meanwhile, he also launched the self governance campaign for villages.
The major highlight of the day was that UN, for the first time, celebrated birth anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar describing the noted Indian Social reformer as ‘global icon’. The day is being observed as ‘Social Harmony Day’.
