Supreme Court announced new roster for Judges

Mr. Ranjan Gogoi has been appointed as the new Chief Justice of India. Supreme Court has published a new roster system for Supreme Court judges. The Announced judge’s roster would come into effect from Friday, 5th October, 2018.

According to the new roster, letter petition, PIL and the matters pertaining to social justice will be heard by the bench headed by the Chief Justice of India. The Bench can also adjudicate upon the matters relating to Company Law, Arbitration, Criminal and Ordinary civil cases, Habeas Corpus and Contempt of Court.

Matters of land acquisition, services, personal laws, religious and charitable endowments will be heard by the Bench headed by Justice Madan B. Lokur. He will also hear those PIL’s allocated to him by the Chief Justice of India.
Labour matters, Rent Act matters, Family Law matters and matters of simple money and mortgage would be heard by the Bench of Justice Kurian Joseph.

Matters relating to direct and indirect tax, election, appeal against statutory bodies will be heard by the Bench headed by Justice AK Sikri

Criminal matters and Ordinary civil matters will be heard by benches headed by Justice UU Lalit, R Bhanumathi, AM Sapre, RF Nariman, Arun Mishra, NV Raman, SA Bobde.

Personal law matters will be heard by benches headed by five different judges Justice Lokur, AK Sikri, Kurian Joseph, NV Raman and UULalit.

The fresh roster of cases has been notified by the order of the Honourable Chief Justice of India.
